GLOSSARY OF KEY TECHNOLOGIES AND FEATURES Giant is a leading producer of high performance bikes that improve your riding experience. You can find the following core technologies in our 2021 range of bicycles. COMPACT ROAD DESIGN Introduced by Giant with the professional TeamONCE in the 1990s, Compact Road revolutionised the look and feel of high-performance road bikes forever. A downward sloping toptube (from the headtube to the seattube) creates smaller front and rear triangles for a lighter, stiffer bike. It alsomakes it easier for riders of all sizes to have a perfect fit. ADVANCED COMPOSITE TECHNOLOGY High-performance grade raw carbon material is used to produce this custom frame material in our own composite factory with a high stiffness-to-weight ratio. The front triangle of these framesets is assembled and moulded as one continuous piece in a proprietary manufacturing process called Modified Monocoque Construction. ADVANCED SL COMPOSITE TECHNOLOGY Professional-grade raw carbon material is woven in our own composite factory using our most advanced engineering and construction methods including: Continuous Fibre Technology to add strength while reducing weight; Carbon Nanotube Technology resin to improve impact resistance; and Fusion Process for lighter, stronger frame junctions. ADVANCED FORGED COMPOSITE TECHNOLOGY A state-of-the-art high-pressure moulding process is used to produce complex-shaped carbon fibre components that are lighter, stiffer and stronger than similar components made from aluminium. This technology is used in critical performance parts such asMaestro Suspension rocker links. ALUXX ALUMINIUM TECHNOLOGY This Performance level frame material features 6061 alloy with single-butted tubes to produce strong, lightweight framesets for a variety of different bikes and riding styles. ALUXX SL ALUMINIUM TECHNOLOGY This High-Performance level, state-of-the-art aluminium material is made predominantly from 6011 alloy and delivers best-in-class strength-to-weight ratios. These framesets also feature unique welding technologies for a high- performance ride quality. ALUXX SLR ALUMINIUM TECHNOLOGY This superlight Pro level aluminium material is made predominantly from 6011 alloy and delivers the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any Giant aluminium frameset. State-of-the-art microscopic grain manipulation and advanced butting allows for 20 percent thinner and lighter tube shapes than ALUXX SL framesets. AEROSYSTEM SHAPING TECHNOLOGY ThroughCFD (Computational FluidDynamics) andwindtunnel data, engineers optimise each tube shape to deliver superior aerodynamic performance. COMAX COMPOSITE TECHNOLOGY This proprietary blend of pure carbon fibre and fibre-reinforced polymer allows Giant engineers to design framesets that deliver comfort, efficiency and lightweight performance, with a ride quality that’s tuned for sport and fitness riders. COMPLIANCE TUNED TECHNOLOGY Specific composite layup and tube shaping, including ultra-thin and flattened seatstays, a low seatstay/seattube junction, and thin, slightly curved fork legs combine for a balanced, compliant ride quality and reduced rider fatigue. D-FUSE SEATPOST The proprietary D-shaped composite seatpost dampens vibration, resulting in a smooth, compliant ride. DISC-BRAKE INTEGRATION The frame and fork are engineered specifically for disc-brakes for reliable braking performance in all weather and road conditions. FLEXPOINT SUSPENSION TECHNOLOGY A proven “single-pivot” design that uses the flexing action of the chainstay/seatstay junction to produce a lightweight and durable suspension systemwith 4.7 inches/120mmof rear travel. INTEGRATED SEATPOST Designed as a key performance factor in the overall frameset, the integrated seatpost saves up to 45 grams compared to standard composite posts, while improving aerodynamics and adding road-smoothing compliance. INTERNAL SEATPOST CLAMP A lightweight, all-internal seatpost locking mechanism provides confident clamping forcewith clean performance and aesthetics. HYBRID CYCLING TECHNOLOGY Hybrid Cycling Technology is a system that combines electric power with human power to produce the most efficient, powerful and natural E-bike riding experience. It’s a seamless extension of a rider’s own power that sets Giant E-bikes apart from other “electric” bicycles. The system consists of four key innovative technologies that work in unison with your own body’s power output - a seamless extension of your own capabilities. MAESTRO SUSPENSION TECHNOLOGY Four strategically positioned pivot points and two linkages all work together to create a single floating pivot for the most active, efficient and independent suspension systemon the trail. MEGADRIVE A massive rectangular downtube and oversized toptube work in unison to provide superior front end lateral and torsional steering precision.
