CHOOSINGCORRECT FRAMESIZE For each model, there is some deliberate overlap between each size. If the rider falls in the overlap region between 2 sizes, the following are just some of the factors that should be considered: In general, the smaller frame size will be slightly lighter, stiffer (frame tubes are closer together) and more nimble. In general, the larger frame sizewill offer a slightlymore compliant ride. In general, females will have proportionally shorter torsos, shorter reach and should be steered towards the smaller frame size. When fitting riders to bikes, shops should consider not just the rider height, but also the proportion of the upper to lower body. Riders with proportionally shorter torsos may need the smaller frame size and vice versa. The type of riding should also be taken into consideration. For example with mountain bikes, the smaller frame size will offer more stand over clearance andmay be preferable for more hard-core applications. For cross country riding, it may be preferable to steer the rider toward the larger frame size. Rider weight should also be considered. Heavier riders may need the larger frame size (especially with some of our full suspension bikes where suspension springweightsmay be firmer on larger frame sizes). PERFECT FIT? THEDEALER'SROLE Choosing the correct frame size is just one step in the process of Bike Fitting. When we spec each size for each model in our range, we take into consideration many Bike Fitting factors such as stem length, handlebar width, crank length and suspension springweight. However, there are so many variables that can affect Bike Fit, that it is simply not possible to achieve perfect fit for every rider 'out of the box'. This can and often does involve changing stem length, handle bar width, crank length, suspension spring weight, saddle type etc. It can also involve 'steering' heavier customers, or customers who are 'hard' on gear, toward more robust models, sturdier wheel sets, stronger parts etc. Dealers should expect to have to undertake a certain amount of 'customisation' of bike components and should discuss and work out these detailswith the customer prior to purchase. HOW TO READ THE RIDER HEIGHT VS FRAME SIZE CHART For 2021 the Giant range continues to grow. With the inclusion of new models, there's now even more scope for finding a style and size of Giant bike to suit a rider. The following size charts are to be used as a guide only when fitting a customer to a Giant bike. RIDER HEIGHT VS FRAME SIZE CHART GIANT BIKE SIZING 194 SIZING | GIANT BIKE SIZING IMPORTANT! It is the responsibility of you, the Dealer to ensure that each and every consumer that buys a bike leaves your store with not only the correct sized frame, but also the correct style of bike that is appropriate to the consumer's weight, type of riding, riding style and needs. Measure rider's height Use Giant 'Rider Height vs. Frame Size Chart’ to select frame size Determine the bike model Does rider clearly fit one frame size? Select frame size: Put the consumer on that sized bike to ensure they are comfortable with frame size (let rider test ride bike) Perfect Fit*: Do the standard components on the bike suit the rider? Read ’Perfect Fit? The Dealers Role’ opposite. Fit different sized components to achieve a perfect fit for the rider. In general this only applies to higher spec. (more expensive) products No?
